The Biochemistry of Movement > 9.7.8. Gentle exercise uses type 1 muscles and involves aerobic respiration > The Products of The TCA Cycle >
Identify the products of the TCA cycle and explain the role of oxidation and reduction in the cycle
- Products:
- For every two pyruvic acid molecules, the TCA cycle produces 2 ATP, 6 NADH, and 2 FADH2
- Oxidation/Reduction:
- acetyl-CoA is oxidised into two CO2
- Three NAD+ molecules are reduced to NADH.
- One molecule of FAD+ is reduced to FADH2
- One molecule of ATP is produced.
