Identify the products of the TCA cycle and explain the role of oxidation and reduction in the cycle

    Products:

  • For every two pyruvic acid molecules, the TCA cycle produces 2 ATP, 6 NADH, and 2 FADH2
    Oxidation/Reduction:

  • acetyl-CoA is oxidised into two CO2
  • Three NAD+ molecules are reduced to NADH.
  • One molecule of FAD+ is reduced to FADH2
  • One molecule of ATP is produced.
