The Energy Release In Glycolysis

Summarize the energy release in glycolysis and identify the form in which the energy is captured

  • Two ATP are formed through phosphorylation of ADP.
  • Energy is captured in the high-energy bond of ATP.
  • Two NADH are produced and are used in oxidative phosphorylation to produce six ATP per NADH molecule.
  • Four ATP molecules are produced during glycolysis. The net production, however, is two ATP molecules since two are used for energy during the process.
