Why excited atoms only emit certain frequencies of radiation
- When electrons jump off from allowed higher energy level to lower energy level, they release photons of specific energy
- The greater the distance in orbit radius, the greater the energy of photon
- Energy of atom is quantized which mean that it exists only in fixed amounts
- The photon frequencies absorbed or emitted by an atom are fixed by the energy levels of its orbits, thereby emitting only specific frequencies of radiation
